Reasons to Invest in a Long Veil on Your Wedding Day in 2024

If you have been one of my brides or know me at all, you know that in wedding photography long veils are the epitome to perfect wedding portraits. Even if you are a bride that doesn’t want to wear a veil down the aisle, here are reasons why you should consider investing in a long veil. Additionally, this blog also shows how to find the perfect one for you.

Adds Interest & Life to Basic Wedding Portraits

First reason to get a long veil is that it flows the best in the wind for elegant, epic shots. Short, finger-length veils can not be tossed or wrapped around in a couple’s photo. However, longer cathedral veils elevates a boring portrait photo to a highly dimension and interesting image. Not only that, but long veils add movement to the photo that would not have been there otherwise. If you want amazing wedding photos that are fun and appealing to look at, a long veil might be the solution.

Weight Matters

Secondly, the weight and layers of the veil matters. I normally tell my brides to get a lightweight sheer veil with minimal beading that is only one layer. If your veil is too heavy, it can not fly in the breeze easily. Also if your long veil is tiered, the shorter layer can be distracting. My favorite long cathedral veils are typically plain sheer ivory tulle. These are simply stunning and classic.

Easy on the Budget

Lastly, long veils do not have to break the wedding budget. As stated before, the more simple and lightweight the better. You can find a long cathedral tulle veil on Amazon for less than $20 dollars. I have never had a bride regret buying a long veil and especially after they get their wedding gallery back. The pros out weigh the cons. You can thank me later!

Happy Wedding Planning!
