7 Things Most Brides Forget on Their Wedding Day

A Missoula Montana Professional Wedding Photographer's Expertise of the TOP 7 THINGS brides tend to forget on their wedding day and how you can learn from others mistakes.

As a professional wedding photographer, I see it all when it comes to wedding days. I’ve seen what works and sadly what doesn’t. I know as a bride you have so many details to remember. This blog is not a list of things to bring but more of a recognized pattern of the TOP 7 THINGS brides tend to forget on their wedding day.

Florals need to be dropped off to you, not the ceremony.

A lot of people think they don’t need their flowers before the ceremony, but that couldn’t be further from the truth. I photograph the flowers the second I get there for the bridal detail photos. They are also needed for possibly the first look, as well as for the wedding party portraits. Make sure to tell your florist the right time and place.

Don’t give all the wedding bands to the best man. You will need all three rings!

I know that everyone says to give the best man the rings, or maybe it’s been known as a tradition, but it’s actually not the best. I will need all three rings for stunning detail photos. Also, from experience the maid of honor is a lot less likely to lose the rings.

Practice putting on the dress

I have seen brides take 5 minutes to get into their dress and I have also seen it take 45 minutes, because they did not bring a crochet hook. Wedding dresses are very intricately made. If you don’t practice getting into your dress or forget to bring the correct tools, you risk being late for your ceremony.

Bring the invitations!

Maybe you are a bride that didn’t want to splurge on a full invitation suite. Maybe you don’t really care for any photos of the invitations. But a lot of brides don’t realize that I use the invitations to tie in all your bridal details together. That is because invitations normally have the color scheme of your wedding day and helps tell a story for your full gallery. They are so important for capturing the whole story of your beautiful day.

Delegate, Delegate, Delegate

If you can afford a day of coordinator or wedding planner, they are worth their weight in gold. If not, give all the day of responsibilities to designated friends and family. The worst thing you could do on your own wedding day is stress yourself out about the details or schedule of the day. Do yourself a favor and enjoy your wedding day by handing over the reins.

Coordinated your ceremony time with your photographer before sending invitations

Sadly, I have many brides that choose a ceremony time, print it on all their invitations and later realize they wish they had chosen differently. Your photographer understands the seasons, sunset timing and the most ideal times to revolve your wedding around. Run the ceremony time by them before announcing it to everyone you know.

Last but not least, Water

Seems so basic yet is very commonly overlooked. Your wedding day is so exciting and captivating. It’s easy to forget one of your most simple needs, water. To prevent you or your wedding party from possibly passing out during the ceremony, let’s bring extra water to make sure everyone is properly hydrated.
